070208 - Capital
Scott (Group Leader) Liaison and Class 455 – Reference to Capital
This means if anyone comment within the Capital section, as the liaison he will respond to any questions that people will post in the capital section.
Brian – People and Technology
Brian is responsible for the People and Technology groups. To be their liaison he will respond the groups and keep tabs on them.
Ian – Market and Organization
Similar to Brian, Ian is responsible for Marketing and Organization groups. To be their liaison he will respond the groups and keep tabs on them.
Our personal system of blogging will be done as posting/commenting 2 comments one on the main post for capital and another in assigned category.
For example Scott would post the main comment for the Capital group both Brian and Ian would respond to the initial post. Then they would respond to one or both of there other groups that they are responsible or at least looking at both to see what is needed. Scott’s responsibility would also see the other Class’s comments dealing with {American Family Entertainment Center}, along with responding to one of the other groups.

Capital Group
We need to have potentially one other person (probably from the People’s Group) since they are the largest in the class to join the Capital’s group we only have 3 people total and myself (Scott) am also part of the other class, so it is important to have another person so the work load can be balanced better.
As towards a name for our firm I am ok with Clark & Young, referring to President Clark and BYU-I.

Maturity Level
Our topics were to define ourselves. First we talked about blogs, and how they apply and how we can use it, for this class and overall experience. Myself I am getting intrenched in the concept of blogging it is an interesting feat.
Maturity Level
A Few Basic Steps:
Top – We – (Interdependence) – we
Middle (age 6, teenage years – all ages) – I (Independent) will do it all for myself. I can accomplish myself I can create my own learning.
SUDO-INDEPENCE – focus is not you. You can’t tell me what to do.
Bottom – You (Dependence) do it all for me, burp, feed,
Counter-Dependence – Not You
Co-Dependence – Only You – won’t leave – Immature level – people who leave but fight it, they can’t leave it. It is fighting because they can’t leave.

Optimization
The Divine Circle: is what Stephen R. Covey wrote about in one of his first books, it teaches that we have a divine circle. In the center of this circle we must center our lives toward God and Jesus Christ. From there are several pieces of cut out that make up our lives. For example one piece can be Money, another church, another education, job, spouse, children, or hobbies. Each circle varies depending upon who you are. Each person must make a choice that fits there life best, but by having God and Christ in the center create the DIVINE CENTER and keeps all your priorities correct.
The Great 8 and the Great Practice 8
This refers the matrix which has the 8 different categories the top is the five engines/categories, of Organizations (People, Organization, Market, Technology – Service, & Capital and within the five engines exist in 3 other engines/categories; Strategy, Opportunities, & Change. Having these 8 parts on the top and to the left create the GREAT 8, having these topics on the bottom and to the right create GREAT PRACTICE 8, which is the leaders in training.

Adhocracy
Adhocracy - What is it – it is how Google operates. They take people from one location to another to better complete a project. Google Inc. has a community of where everyone progresses. They use the idea of core competency. For example say a person lives in texas and Google needs to solve an issue in Florida if the person can move to Florida to help out they will relocate them, and to maintain your job you must be constantly helping and be flexible.
The basic line of leadership is at the top:
CEO / General
V.P. / Partner
Junior Partner – Masters Degree – Usual Required
Sr. Manager – Masters Degree – Usual Required
Sr. Consultant – Masters Degree – Usually Required
Consultant - Basic
Analyst - Basic
Internship - Basic
“You can take people out of the slums, but you can’t take the slums out of the people.” However if you take the slum out of the people the slum will go away on its own.
Five Engines of Organizations
1. People
2. Organization
3. Market
4. Technology – Service
5. Capital
Within the five engines exist in 3 other categories;
1. Strategy
2. Opportunities
3. Change
Each category has a specific type of personality – because of this it is an adhocracy – this is why people are so diverse. This is why good strong companies like Google are powerful they use there resources from many people.
